Our specialist pelvic health physiotherapists will support you through your menopause journey, so you can prepare to become your best self yet.
Your body undergoes many changes during menopause, and it is not uncommon to experience pain and discomfort in the pelvic area.
- Muscle imbalances can lead to issues and symptoms such as pelvic pain, hip pain, swelling in the legs and pelvic area, lower or mid back pain and leaking.
- The great news is that a specialist pelvic health physiotherapist can help alleviate and even treat these symptoms. We utilise a combination of pelvic physiotherapy treatment, education, biofeedback, lifestyle changes, muscle training, specialised interventions and specific exercises.
During your consultations, we will always take the time to make sure you understand your symptoms. We’ll help you feel reassured about the future.
We want you to feel strong throughout your menopause so can live your life with confidence and belief in your body.
For this reason, we strongly recommend every woman attends a check with a specialist pelvic health physiotherapist so as to take proactive steps to reduce symptoms and ensure you are taking the rights steps to be resilient and strong in the next phase of your life.
What to expect during the consultation:
- discussion regarding your concerns including bladder, bowel and sexual function, your sleep, stress and mood
- discussion regarding your short and long term goals
- medical history review – please bring along to appointment any of the following if in your medical file: blood tests, hormonal profile, any other significant MRI’s or medical screenings, bone density (DXA) scans
- an internal vaginal examination to investigate how your pelvic floor muscles are functioning, their strength, and your overall pelvic health
- evidence-based assessments and functional tests to assess your posture, pelvic alignment, biomechanics and abdominal muscle recruitment to serve as a base reading as you progress through menopause
What you will receive:
- specialist treatments to address any pelvic health symptoms
- muscle retraining with biofeedback for optimal and effective recruitment of the pelvic floor muscles
- a pelvic health and programme to maintain and improve your overall strength and improve your pelvic health function
